A double-height French classical living room

Designed by Architect Nafiseh Ghavidel · Nafiseh Ghavidel Architecture

Designed by Architect Nafiseh Ghavidel, this French classical interior visualisation uses warm white, mocha and deep navy with richly profiled walls and a crystal chandelier. The challenge is to unite the large room volume with a comfortable, human-scale seating arrangement.

Solving the scale of a tall living space

In a tall room, seating operates close to the floor while the upper wall and ceiling remain visually distant. Repeated vertical panelling, full-height window treatments and a carefully placed chandelier help bridge those scales. If every surface receives equal ornament, the key focal points become harder to read.

Why this is French classical

Substantial cornices, floral motifs, richly framed walls and the elaborate chandelier are closer to a French-classical interpretation than a very restrained neoclassical interior. Quiet background planes are still essential to allow the mouldings to be appreciated.

Furniture and circulation

Light seating groups define a conversation area while the navy details echo the window treatments. A real floor plan must confirm the distances between sofas, coffee tables, doors and circulation routes. The design image is a starting point for spatial assessment, never a replacement for it.

Curtains, daylight and proportions

Navy curtains create a vertical accent at the tall glazing, while white sheers maintain brightness. Curtain stacking space and window operation matter: a visually grand treatment should not accidentally obstruct a significant portion of the usable daylight.

Lighting and buildability

A chandelier at this scale needs a verified suspension point, electrical coordination and a maintenance strategy. Plaster ornament also requires material and fixing details, especially above circulation routes. A complete villa project additionally needs zoning for guests, family privacy, kitchen access and circulation. Local specialists must review engineering and regulatory requirements at the project site.
